Colombia boosts doctoral teachers' pay by 7% under new decree

At the end of March 2026, Colombia's Departamento Administrativo de la Función Pública issued Decree 0299, setting a 7% salary increase for public‑sector teachers who belong to unions. The raise follows a formula that adds the 2025 inflation rate (5.1% reported by DANE) to a fixed 1.9% uplift.

The decree outlines salary tables for teachers with doctorates. In Grade 2, Level A earns $4,967,653 pesos and Level D $9,059,548 pesos; in Grade 3, Level A earns $8,484,182 pesos and Level D $14,436,985 pesos. It also defines extra‑hour compensation, ranging from $36,356 pesos for Level A in Grade 2 to $61,860 pesos for Level D in the same grade.

These adjustments apply to educators employed in state schools across Colombia.
