Colombia cabinet transitions: New leadership roles in Interior and Finance ministries

Following the formation of the new executive cabinet in Colombia, several administrative changes have taken place within key ministries. Rodrigo Lara Sánchez, the newly appointed Minister of the Interior, will temporarily assume the role of Acting Director of the National Protection Unit (UNP). This administrative measure aims to prevent power vacuums in the agency responsible for the security of social leaders, former combatants, and high-ranking state officials while a permanent director is appointed.

Simultaneously, in the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, newly appointed Minister Miguel Gómez Martínez has initiated significant personnel changes. Supported by Secretary General Carlos Alberto Castellanos Araujo, Gómez Martínez has declared three general directors insubsistent. This move departs from the ministry's tradition of maintaining a non-partisan technical team, as the dismissed officials were experienced directors who had provided institutional stability across previous administrations.
