Colombia captures Farc dissident leader ‘Mono Huevo’ in Meta

Colombian armed forces captured Anderson Castro Repiso, known as “Mono Huevo,” during a military operation on 23 June in the La Esperanza vereda of La Macarena municipality, Meta department. The 26‑year‑old, identified as a senior commander of the disident factions allied with the former FARC under the alias “Calarcá,” faces pending charges for extortion, coercion of civilians and a 2017 sexual‑abuse allegation.

The operation involved the Army, the Colombian Aerospace Force, the police and the Fiscalía, and resulted in the suspect being intercepted while traveling in an armored vehicle. After his capture, local residents surrounded the troops and temporarily detained several soldiers, delaying his air‑lift evacuation until weather cleared. Governor Rafaela Cortés condemned the obstruction and pledged continued security measures in the region. Authorities say the arrest strikes a blow to the illegal armed groups operating in the Llanos Orientales and will support ongoing efforts to protect rural communities.

The capture is part of a broader campaign to dismantle the “Ever Castro” bloc of the Jorge Suárez Briceño faction, which maintains a presence in several Meta settlements and is linked to illicit economies such as narcotics trafficking and extortion.
