Colombia: Antioquia road funding approved and IMF loan costs estimated

In Antioquia, the Department Assembly approved a project to implement a valuation mechanism to fund road infrastructure. The initiative, which passed with 13 votes in favor and 6 against, aims to invest approximately $852,497 million to improve 76.53 kilometers of corridors in the Oriente, Suroeste, and Urabá subregions. The final list of included routes includes El Canadá – El Carmen de Viboral, La Unión – El Carmen de Viboral, Jericó – Buenos Aires – La Bodega, and a road circuit in Urabá.

Regarding national finances, the economic think tank ANIF calculated that a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under the Precautionary and Liquidity Line would cost Colombia an effective annual rate of 3.7%. This is significantly lower than the 6.6% currently paid for dollar-denominated bonds.

Additionally, the Colombian government has officially established the 'Fondo Milagro' to manage reconstruction efforts in earthquake-affected areas. The Ministry of Finance has allocated $624,656 million to this fund, sourced from external credit, to be administered by Fiducoldex.
