Colombia Court blocks emergency decree changes to central bank

Colombia's Constitutional Court reviewed the emergency decree issued during the second economic emergency declared by President Gustavo Petro. While the Court upheld most provisions, it declared the articles that modified the competencies of the Banco de la República's Board of Directors inexecutable, stating they were not directly related to the emergency.

The decree's remaining measures, chiefly those aimed at expanding credit for the agricultural sector, remain in force. The government must now implement the decree without the blocked provisions, leaving the central bank's powers unchanged.
