Huila’s 2026 Festival del Bambuco highlights dances, national parade and youth band competition
The 65th Festival del Bambuco, celebrated in the Huila department from June 25‑29 2026, featured a series of cultural events across San Juan, San Pedro and Neiva.
A departmental dance encounter honored the LGBTI Libre Expresión group from Neiva as the winner, while the Governor of Huila, Rodrigo Villalba Mosquera, and the regional culture secretariat oversaw the festivities.
The Grand National Parade of San Pedro on June 28 gathered 18 regional delegations—including representatives from Antioquia, Boyacá, Huila and others—displaying traditional costumes, music and dances along a route that stretched to the Olympic Pools.
Comfenalco Tolima reaffirmed its support for the arts by sponsoring performances at the Gran Desfile de San Juan and announcing participation in the San Pedro parade with a traditional silleta and over 30 artists.
In Neiva, candidates for the Reinado Nacional del Bambuco were welcomed with a colorful procession that showcased Colombia’s folk heritage ahead of the pageant’s upcoming contests.
The youth symphonic band of Algeciras earned first place in the municipal band contest, judged on technical and cultural criteria, underscoring the region’s musical talent.
