Colombia defeats Congo 1-0 to clinch World Cup group lead

Colombia secured a 1‑0 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in Guadalajara, Zapopan, finishing the group stage with six points and topping Group K. The winning goal came in the 76th minute after a Juan Fernando Quintero pass set up Jhon Córdoba, whose shot was diverted to the net by Daniel Muñoz.

The win gave coach Néstor Lorenzo’s side perfect points from two matches, with notable performances from Luis Díaz, James Rodríguez and Jhon Arias. Colombia now advances to the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup.
