Colombia Defense Ministry Calls for Prosecutor Review of Congressman Uscátegui's Political Control Requests

The Colombian Ministry of Defense has asked the Attorney General's Office to provide preventive oversight and institutional accompaniment for six petitions submitted by Congressman José Jaime Uscátegui Pastrana. The ministry argues that the congressman’s 1,360 questions, presented over two weeks, may represent a disproportionate use of political control tools. In a formal request to Prosecutor General Gregorio Eljach Pacheco, the defense ministry cited constitutional article 277 and Decree Law 262 of 2000, seeking to ensure that the legislative inquiries are processed correctly and within legal limits. The ministry emphasized that the request does not aim to curtail congressional oversight but to verify proper procedural compliance.
