Following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake on August 10, Colombian authorities have implemented emergency measures to stabilize healthcare and labor stability.

A modular field hospital has been fully deployed in Armenia to support the San Juan de Dios University Hospital, which suffered severe damage. The Western Shelter System infrastructure includes four modules with 40 beds, equipped with climate control and HEPA filtration to provide essential medical services.

The Ministry of Health has instructed health providers (EPS) to ensure the continuity of care, specifically prioritizing vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and patients with chronic illnesses. The ministry also mandated that access to medications must be maintained without administrative barriers.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Labor has activated 16 measures to protect workers. These guidelines prioritize physical safety over workplace attendance, allow for flexible work arrangements like remote work, and discourage sanctions for delays or absences caused by the disaster.
