Colombia dietary trends shift toward holistic wellness and gut health

A study by Buzzmonitor analyzing social media conversations between late April and late July 2026 reveals a shift in dietary habits among Colombians. Consumers are moving away from a singular focus on weight loss and calorie counting toward a more holistic approach to physical and mental well-being.

Key areas of growing interest include functional nutrition, gut health, microbiota, satiety, and healthy aging. There is an increased emphasis on proteins, fiber, fermented foods, and nutrients that support muscle mass and general wellness. Additionally, the relationship between digestion, sleep, and mood has become a prominent topic of discussion.

The study also notes that the introduction of weight-control medications has influenced nutritional discourse, driving interest in nutrient-dense foods, appropriate portion sizes, and foods that promote satiety.
