Colombia earthquake relief: Humanitarian aid arrives from Miami

Humanitarian relief efforts are underway to support populations affected by the earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10.

The Colombian Navy's logistics support vessel, ARC ‘La Guajira’, has departed from Miami, United States, bound for Buenaventura. The ship is carrying 116 pallets and 19 containers of essential supplies, including non-perishable food, medical supplies, hygiene kits, and other necessities. This mission, supported by the Colombian diaspora in the U.S. and international volunteers, involves a 15-day journey through the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, including a transit through the Panama Canal. The vessel is expected to arrive in Buenaventura on September 13.

In the municipality of Dosquebradas, local authorities have begun distributing specific care items to rural families in the Alto del Nudo and Las Marcadas mountain ranges. The distribution includes adult and baby diapers and wet wipes, targeting households with infants, children, and elderly individuals or those with reduced mobility. These supplies were secured through coordination between the Mayor's office and national foundations to alleviate the daily costs faced by disaster victims.
