Colombia earthquake: Two dead after hotel collapse in Pereira

Search and rescue teams have recovered the bodies of Ana Victoria Mejía Osorio and Miguel Ángel Fernández Estrada following a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Colombia. The two victims, both residents of Villavicencio, were trapped under the rubble of the Hotel Dibeni in Pereira after the building completely collapsed during the seismic event.

Mejía Osorio, a business owner of the veterinary establishments Angelitos Fieles, had traveled to Pereira to attend a veterinary congress. Fernández Estrada was also in the city for the same event. The earthquake, which had its epicenter in the Chocó department, caused significant destruction, including the total collapse of the hotel where the victims were staying.
