Colombia prepares diverse cultural and tourism agendas for October school recess

Various regions in Colombia are preparing for the October school recess with extensive cultural, tourism, and social agendas.

In Antioquia, a diverse program of 37 activities includes theater festivals, kite festivals, and various regional celebrations such as the Fiestas del Buey and the National Bullerengue Festival. The department also hosts several sporting events, including marathons in La Ceja and Urrao. Nearby, El Santuario is hosting the 43rd Theater Festival and the SantuFest gastronomy event.

In Bogotá, major events like the SOFA geek convention and the 30th anniversary of the Rock al Parque festival coincide with the holiday period. Santa Marta is promoting tourism through the 30th anniversary of the Mar de Acordeones Vallenato Festival, aiming to boost local commerce following recent public order disruptions.

In Medellín, the local government is focusing on student well-being, maintaining mental health support through the 'Escuela Entorno Protector' program during the break. Meanwhile, Bucaramanga maintains a busy cultural schedule with circus performances and various concerts, despite the postponement of a major Carlos Vives concert due to a recent earthquake.
