Colombia ex-Sports Minister María Isabel Urrutia accused of corruption
The Colombian Prosecutor General's Office has formally accused former Sports Minister María Isabel Urrutia Ocoró of contract irregularities and ideological falsehood in a public document. The charges are related to an inter-administrative agreement exceeding 4,950 million pesos intended for a national validation system for football stadium spectators.
According to investigators, the system was meant to link identity documents with entry tickets to verify criminal records and restrict access to sanctioned individuals. However, the Prosecutor's Office alleges that Urrutia Ocoró bypassed legal requirements for public bidding by awarding a direct contract to Aldesarrollo for a mere analysis of the system, rather than its full implementation.
Prosecutors further claim the former minister ignored warnings from her technical and legal teams regarding pre-contractual irregularities. It is alleged that she directed the contract to benefit a specific individual by conditioning the award on the subcontracting of that person.
