Chile launches 2026 rent subsidy, with higher support for Arica region
The Ministry of Housing and Urbanism (Minvu) opened the 2026 regular call for the Rental Subsidy (DS 52) on 7 July, running until 7 August. The subsidy provides a total monthly grant of 170 UF (about 6.94 million Chilean pesos) with a standard cap of 4.2 UF (≈ 171 400 pesos) for rent payments not exceeding 11 UF. For families in the Arica and Parinacota region, the maximum monthly grant rises to 4.9 UF (≈ 200 000 pesos) and the rent ceiling is 13 UF (≈ 530 700 pesos). Applications can be submitted online via www.minvu.cl or in person at Serviu offices. The programme aims to assist more than 8 450 families, requiring beneficiaries to hold a valid ID, be registered in the Social Registry of Households, meet income thresholds (7–25 UF per month, adjusted for larger families), and have a minimum savings of 4 UF. Recipients pay part of the rent while the state covers the remainder, and the subsidy can later be combined with other housing assistance programmes.
