Colombia explores interoceanic railway connecting Pacific and Atlantic
In Colombia, proposals are being discussed to link the Pacific and Atlantic oceans through a railway line. This initiative aims to transform the Chocó region by fostering commercial exchange between the two oceans.
One specific proposal involves an intermodal corridor connecting Tumaco, Colombia, with Belém do Pará, Brazil. This route would link Tumaco, Pasto, Mocoa, and Puerto Asís to the Amazonian fluvial network. The project was part of the Initiative for the Integration of the Regional Infrastructure of South America (IIRSA), which seeks to coordinate transport, energy, and communication infrastructure across South American nations.
