Colombia extends administration of National Coffee Fund by five months

The Colombian government and the National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC) have agreed to extend the contract for administering the National Coffee Fund (FoNC) for an additional five months. The extension prevents an administrative gap and maintains programs that support coffee producers, including purchase guarantees, technical assistance, scientific research and competitiveness initiatives.

The fund, financed by a small levy on coffee exports (about six U.S. cents per pound), holds roughly 1.04 trillion Colombian pesos and underpins services for more than 560,000 coffee‑farming families. While the temporary agreement keeps these services running, both parties will continue negotiations on a new long‑term administration model that the incoming government of President‑elect Abelardo de la Espriella will sign.
