Colombia extends Néstor Lorenzo's contract as coach ahead of future tournaments

The Colombian Football Federation has ratified a four‑year extension for Argentine coach Néstor Lorenzo, confirming his continued role with the national team. The decision follows Lorenzo’s tenure that restored competitiveness, secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup and guided Colombia to the 2024 Copa América final. With the new agreement, his salary has been increased above the previous 2.4 million USD per year.

The federation expects the team to move beyond qualification and target titles, aiming for success at the Copa América 2028 and the World Cup 2030 qualifiers. Lorenzo will also oversee a generational transition, integrating emerging talents such as Jhon Durán, Yaser Asprilla and others while maintaining the performance of established players like Luis Díaz.
