Colombia faces explosive attacks and intercepted bombs

Colombia is facing heightened security threats following two separate explosive incidents. In Cúcuta, a truck carrying explosives detonated near a police station, injuring 11 police officers and three civilians.

In a separate incident near Cali, the Colombian National Police intercepted a bus containing approximately 420 kilograms of ammonium nitrate and seven concealed launch ramps. Authorities believe the vehicle was intended to target civilians and law enforcement officials ahead of the August 7 inauguration of President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella.

Investigations suggest that Jaime “Mad Max” Martínez, a commander of the FARC terrorist group, is behind the explosives-laden bus. The Colombian government has placed a 500 million Colombian pesos bounty on Martínez. Security has been bolstered in Cali, with over 11,000 law enforcement officials deployed for the upcoming presidential inauguration.
