Colombia undergoes financial, commercial, and regulatory shifts

Colombia is experiencing several significant shifts across its financial, commercial, and regulatory sectors. In the financial industry, Nequi has officially transitioned from a Bancolombia business unit to an independent neobank, serving 29 million users. Simultaneously, ACH Colombia is integrating artificial intelligence and advanced analytics into its transactional services to modernize the national payment ecosystem.

In e-commerce, fashion and accessories have emerged as the leading category on the Tiendanube platform, seeing a 43% year-on-year growth in 2025. This growth is driven by increased order volumes and higher average ticket prices.

Regulatory changes are also impacting Colombian drivers. The Ministry of Transport has postponed the implementation of Logistics Support Centers for Evaluation (CALE), preventing an expected increase in driving license costs. Additionally, the Superintendency of Transport has issued warnings against fraudulent practices during driver certification processes, while the government works on a new National Transit Code to reduce bureaucracy and costs for motorists. In Valledupar, traffic cameras have begun issuing fines for red-light violations.

In Panama, emergency services responded to a warehouse fire in David, deploying 30 firefighters to prevent the blaze from spreading to neighboring businesses.
