Deportivo Táchira fans attacked in Cojedes, Venezuela

Armed individuals attacked a double-decker bus carrying Deportivo Táchira supporters in the Cojedes state of Venezuela. The incident occurred near the Taguanes toll plaza in the Chirguita sector as fans were returning to San Cristóbal after a match against Carabobo FC in Valencia.

Reports indicate that unidentified gunmen opened fire on the vehicle, which belonged to the Expresos Occidente company. The driver managed to reach the toll plaza to seek assistance, preventing further escalation. At least eight individuals were confirmed injured by gunfire and blunt objects, including Wilker Moreno, Yandel Puertas, Jhonatan Briseño, Franco Sanabria, Anthony Contreras, Alejandro Area, Ángel Gutiérrez, and Omar Moro. Some victims required emergency transport to the Hospital Joaquina de Rotondaro in Tinaquillo.

While some preliminary reports suggest the attack may have been an attempted robbery, official confirmation is pending. Security forces, including the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), and the Scientific, Criminal, and Penal Investigation Corps (Cicpc), have deployed to the area to investigate and locate those responsible.
