Colombia industrial production falls in July 2026
Colombia's industrial production fell by 2.3% in July 2026 compared to the same month in 2025, according to data from DANE. This decline in manufacturing activity contrasts sharply with the 5.8% production growth recorded during the same period the previous year.
The manufacturing sector saw significant downturns in leather tanning (-34.0%), rubber products (-26.5%), and cacao/confectionery (-19.2%). Conversely, the automotive manufacturing sector grew by 21.9%, and sectors such as soaps, detergents, and furniture also showed positive trends.
While manufacturing struggled, other industrial components showed growth. Electricity and gas supply increased by 4.1%, water services rose by 3.6%, and mining and quarrying activities grew by 2.7%. Overall, the Industrial Production Index (IPI) recorded a total decrease of 0.3% for the month.
