Colombia issues $5.2 billion in international bonds

The Colombian government has issued $5.2 billion in bonds on international markets to strengthen access to external financing. The multi-part offering includes $2.2 billion due in 2032, $2 billion due in 2037, and $1 billion due in 2056.

The transaction saw significant investor interest, with demand reaching approximately $16 billion, representing roughly 3.07 times the amount offered. The proceeds are intended to fund the national budget deficit, which is projected to reach 7.2% of GDP this year.

Financial institutions including BBVA, Itaú BBA, and J.P. Morgan Securities acted as bookrunners for the operation. This issuance follows the government's decision to enact the 2027 national budget by decree after legislative processes failed to conclude due to disagreements between the Senate and the House of Representatives.
