Colombia JEP summons ex-guerrilla Sandra Ramírez for child recruitment investigation
The Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) in Colombia has finalized a summons for former FARC guerrilla and ex-senator Sandra Ramírez to appear in person. Ramírez, the former partner of alias ‘Tirofijo’, faces investigations regarding the recruitment of minors and related crimes against humanity.
Victims have alleged that Ramírez was responsible for the recruitment of children and has been implicated in reports of sexual and reproductive abuse involving young girls taken by FARC commanders. The JEP is conducting a deep investigation into her influence and potential involvement in violence against children.
Ramírez’s legal defense had previously requested that her voluntary statement, scheduled for November 4, be conducted via written responses rather than an in-person hearing. The defense cited security concerns, alleging that Ramírez is facing death threats, media harassment, and public stigmatization that could compromise her physical and psychological integrity.
