Colombia kills FARC dissident explosives expert ‘Max Max’

Colombian security forces have killed Dubán Ramiro Castillo Cortés, known as ‘Max Max’, a high-ranking explosives expert for the FARC dissidents under the command of ‘Mordisco’. The operation, conducted by the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Police, took place in the rural area of La Cabaña in Jamundí, Valle del Cauca.

President Abelardo de la Espriella confirmed the death of Castillo Cortés, noting he had a criminal career spanning nearly a decade. As an instructor for the Jacobo Arenas Western Block and the Jaime Martínez structure, he was allegedly responsible for numerous lethal attacks, including a car bomb at the Marco Fidel Suárez Air Base in Cali and attacks on the Pichincha Battalion. A reward of up to 500 million pesos had been offered for his capture.
