Colombia kills two Clan del Golfo members and seizes chemicals for 70 tons of cocaine

The Colombian Army and Air Force conducted a joint offensive in the rural area of Amalfi, Northeast Antioquia, targeting the sub‑structure of the Clan del Golfo led by Jorge Iván Arboleda Garcés. The operation resulted in the preliminary death of two suspected Clan members.

Separately, the National Police’s Antinarcotics Directorate intercepted four trucks on the Bogotá‑Villavicencio highway, confiscating 4.5 t of calcium chloride, 2,250 gal of sulfuric acid and 1,100 gal of hydrochloric acid—chemicals enough to produce roughly 70 tons of cocaine. The four drivers (three Colombians, one Venezuelan) were detained for further investigation.

Both actions are part of Colombia’s broader effort to disrupt illegal armed groups and large‑scale drug production.
