Colombia: Local events in Pasto and Ibagué

Various local events are occurring across Colombian cities. In Pasto, the municipality is preparing for its second ‘Car and Motorcycle Free Day’ of 2026 on September 24 as part of a Sustainable Mobility Week. The initiative encourages the use of bicycles, walking, and public transport.

In Ibagué, students from the Universidad del Tolima marched toward the Tolima Governorate to demand resources for environmental emergencies caused by wildfires and to protest perceived threats to university autonomy. Additionally, health authorities in Ibagué temporarily closed an aesthetic clinic after discovering invasive procedures being performed by unqualified personnel using improper equipment and supplies.

Other incidents in Ibagué include a prolonged protest by bus owner Pedro Hernán Toloza, who has been chained to his vehicle for 26 days seeking a resolution with the company Logalarza. Furthermore, a road altercation in the Karibana sector resulted in a motorcycle being dragged by a truck, leading to serious injuries and a confrontation that was captured on video.
