Argentina implements regulatory shifts in health and weapons sectors

In Argentina, the government of Javier Milei is implementing significant regulatory changes. The Superintendencia de Servicios de Salud (SSS) has disqualified 18 private medical insurance entities and mutuals from the National Registry of Prepaid Medicine (RNEMP). These entities were removed due to a lack of active members, failure to provide operational services, or failure to submit required documentation. This action is part of a broader audit that has removed over 180 entities since the start of the current administration. Authorities stated these removals will not impact current users as the affected companies lacked active beneficiaries.

Simultaneously, the Argentine government has reorganized the National Weapons Registry (Renar), transitioning it into a decentralized body under the Ministry of Security. The restructuring, established via Decree 770/2026, elevates the hierarchy of its leadership and expands its functions to include the registration, inspection, and control of firearms, ammunition, and explosives, as well as the management of national controlled material databases.

In the Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Public Health has ordered the immediate closure of the CEDALAB EIRL blood bank and clinical laboratory in Villa Duarte, Santo Domingo Este. The facility was found to be operating without a valid operating license and exhibited multiple sanitary violations, including deficiencies in human resources, blood sample processing, equipment maintenance, refrigeration, and biological waste management.
