Colombia Ministry of Housing corrects Vice Minister's academic profile

The Colombian Ministry of Housing, City and Territory has updated the official profile of Vice Minister Reynaldo José D’Silva Uribe following revelations regarding his academic credentials. Although previously presented in official communications as holding a Master’s degree in State Law from Universidad Externado de Colombia, investigations confirmed that D’Silva has not yet graduated.

While he completed coursework between 2022 and 2024, he still needs to submit and defend his thesis to obtain the degree. D’Silva acknowledged he is still completing his postgraduate studies, attributing the error in the Ministry’s official documentation to an administrative “typing error.”

The Ministry has since corrected his digital profile to list him as a “Master’s candidate.” While the lack of a master's degree does not legally prevent him from holding his position, the incident has drawn criticism from various political sectors regarding the rigor of official government vetting processes.
