Colombia national team readies for World Cup 2026 group stage

Colombia’s football squad concluded its pre‑World Cup preparations with a 2–0 friendly win over Jordan in San Diego, featuring a goal from Jhon Arias. Earlier, the team faced the Democratic Republic of Congo in a closed‑door match in Orléans, France, where the Congolese side scored a striking long‑range goal by Joris Kayembe.

The team now heads to the United States and Mexico for its Group K fixtures at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Colombia will open the group stage against Uzbekistan on 17 June at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca, meet the Democratic Republic of Congo on 23 June at the Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, and face Portugal on 27 June at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. The squad, coached by Néstor Lorenzo, is based in the United States and will travel to Mexico for the first two matches before moving to Florida for the final group game.

Colombia’s group also includes Portugal, Uzbekistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the tournament featuring 48 teams across 12 groups.
