Colombia orders humanitarian flight for veteran needing lung transplant
Colombian President Abelardo De La Espriella has ordered a humanitarian flight to repatriate Henry Camargo, a former soldier who served 22 years in the National Army. Camargo is currently hospitalized at Elmhurst Hospital in New York, where he is facing a severe lung condition and requires a double lung transplant.
Camargo, who was wounded three times in combat during his military service, requested assistance via video after his family struggled to afford the costs of medical transport. Following the president's direct communication with the veteran, the Colombian Consulate in New York has been instructed to coordinate the necessary logistics to return Camargo to Colombia for his medical treatment.
