Colombia pension deadline ends chance to switch between Colpensiones and private funds

The exceptional window created by Colombia’s pension reform closes on Thursday, marking the final day for eligible workers to transfer between the public system, Colpensiones, and private pension funds. To qualify, participants must be within ten years of retirement age (women under 57, men under 62) and have a minimum of 750 weeks of contributions for women or 900 weeks for men. Completion of a mandatory double advisory—where both Colpensiones and the private fund explain the implications of the move—is also required before filing the transfer request. Authorities confirmed the measure, which has been in place for about two years, will not be extended, urging all who meet the criteria to act before the deadline.
