Colombia police capture drug leader alias ‘Kevin Masacre’

Colombian authorities have captured Kevin David Moscote Redondo, known as alias ‘Kevin Masacre’, in the La Guajira department. Intelligence officials identify him as the primary drug trafficking leader of the Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada (ACSN) and the direct successor to Naín Andrés Pérez Toncel, alias ‘Bendito Menor’, who was killed in September.

The arrest took place on the road connecting Maicao and Riohacha while the suspect was traveling in a high-end vehicle. During the operation, police seized a fragmentation grenade, 120 rounds of .38 caliber ammunition, and three mobile phones. Moscote Redondo is accused of illegal manufacturing, trafficking, and possession of firearms and ammunition.

As the leader of the ‘Javier Cáceres’ front of the ACSN, he was allegedly responsible for managing maritime routes for cocaine shipments to Central America and the Caribbean, as well as extorting merchants in northern La Guajira. The operation is part of a broader government strategy to contain organized crime on Colombia's northern coast.
