Colombia police kill ACSN paramilitary leader alias Cholo

Colombian authorities confirmed the death of José Luis Pérez Villanueva, known as alias Cholo, identified as the second leader of the Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada (ACSN), also known as Los Pachenca. The operation, conducted by the DIRAN, the Prosecutor's Office, and the Air Force, resulted in seven deaths and three arrests.

In response to the operation, ACSN members blocked the road between Calabazo and Santa Marta and set fire to two public transport buses at the 11 de Noviembre bridge in Magdalena. Despite these actions, the Governor of Magdalena, María Margarita Guerra, stated that no armed strike is currently underway in the department.

The ACSN's origins trace back to the 2006 demobilization of Hernán Giraldo's structure. The group has recently been involved in territorial disputes with the Clan del Golfo, which the Ombudsman's Office warned could impact 21 municipalities across Magdalena, La Guajira, and Cesar.
