Colombia prepares for Amor y Amistad 2026 celebrations

Colombia is preparing for the ‘Amor y Amistad’ (Love and Friendship) celebration, which will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The holiday is a significant occasion for Colombians to gather with partners, friends, and families through gift exchanges and social activities.

Travel interest for the holiday weekend is rising. Data from the travel search engine Kayak indicates a 12% increase in searches for domestic flights compared to the same period in 2025. Hotel searches have seen a more substantial rise of 45%, though average accommodation prices are expected to be approximately 6% lower than last year.

Bogotá is seeing the highest growth in flight searches with a 40% increase, followed by Medellín at 35%. Other notable destinations include Montería, Santa Marta, and Cartagena.
