Gabriela Muñoz investigation probes alleged influence and contract irregularities at Colombia's Aerocivil
The Colombian Attorney General's Office opened a preliminary investigation into the Aeronáutica Civil (Aerocivil) over alleged irregularities linked to former assistant Gabriela Muñoz Olaya. Prosecutors are examining whether Muñoz and several family members were hired without merit, constituting possible traffic of influences. The probe also focuses on a public‑service contract that was initially valued at about 400 million pesos and later amended to roughly 12 billion pesos, raising suspicions of inflation and procedural breaches. The investigation was triggered by accusations from former presidential office director Angie Rodríguez and opposition deputy Daniel Briceño, who claimed Muñoz exercised undue influence over hiring and contract decisions. The Ministry of Transport, led by María Fernanda Rojas, has been asked to provide documentation on the contract and on the hiring process. The Attorney General's Office has set a ten‑day deadline for Aerocivil to submit reports and certifications of officials who held key positions since January 2025.
