Colombia proposes 3A fiscal plan to curb deficit and boost growth
Economists from Corficolombiana presented a "3A" strategy – austerity, consolidation and acceleration – to address Colombia’s persistent fiscal deficits and high borrowing costs. The plan recommends trimming public administration, including reducing ministries from 19 to 12, aiming to save roughly 1 % of GDP. It also calls for stronger fiscal credibility to lower interest rates and restore investor confidence, alongside measures to stimulate economic growth.
Implementation would involve tighter budgeting, institutional reforms and targeted investment to improve the sustainability of public finances and support future economic expansion.
