Colombia raids FARCR dissident groups, captures “Mona” and seizes weapons

Colombian security forces carried out operations against dissident factions of the former guerrilla group FARCR led by alias "Iván Mordisco". President Gustavo Petro announced that he ordered an air strike in the Guaviare region after clashes between Mordisco structures and another dissident group. The bombing targeted a rural area of San José del Guaviare.

In the same wave of actions, Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez reported the capture of three suspects on the Ibagué‑Melgar highway, including a woman known as alias “Mona” or “Katherine”. She is accused of heading an armed commission in Meta and of coordinating the transfer of minors recruited between Cauca and Guaviare. An Ecuadorian national traveling in the same vehicle was also detained. The operation seized more than 1,200 5.56 mm cartridges, 18 rifle magazines, a machine‑gun barrel, thirteen rifles and other military equipment. Three dissidents were killed, among them eleven minors identified by forensic authorities.
