Colombia reactivates arrest warrants for 46 armed group leaders

The Colombian Prosecutor General's Office has reactivated arrest warrants for 46 leaders and members of illegal armed structures following the termination of government dialogue tables. Under Resolution 0-0263, signed by Prosecutor General Luz Adriana Camargo Garzón, the suspension of these warrants was revoked after the government ended negotiations with the ‘Estado Mayor de Bloques y Frentes’, the ‘Coordinadora Nacional Ejército Bolivariano’, and the ‘Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada’.

Among those targeted is Alexander Díaz Mendoza, alias ‘Calarcá’, a leader of the ‘Estado Mayor de Bloques y Frentes’. Other high-profile individuals include Carlos Eduardo García Téllez, alias ‘Andrey’, and José Vicente Lesmes, alias ‘Walter Mendoza’. The government cited a lack of peace will from these groups as the reason for ending the negotiations.

In a separate military development, President Abelardo de la Espriella reported that ‘Operation Azarías’ resulted in the deaths of eight dissidents during a bombing of a camp in Guaviare. The operation targeted the ‘Frente Carolina Ramírez’, led by the individual known as alias ‘El Tigre’. This follows previous military strikes against dissident groups in the Catatumbo and El Retorno regions.
