Colombia: 62 minors killed in military operations during Petro administration

The National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences has reported significant numbers regarding the deaths of minors during military operations in Colombia. During the administration of President Gustavo Petro, 62 minors have died in the context of military operations as of May 31. This compares to 42 minors who died during the administration of former President Iván Duque.

In a recent operation in the rural area of El Retorno, Guaviare, targeting FARC dissidents led by ‘Calarcá’, at least ten people were killed. Among the deceased are three adolescents, aged 15 and 16.

Additionally, reports indicate that a 16-year-old minor died during a military bombing in Catatumbo on August 10, which targeted the National Liberation Army (ELN). This incident occurred during the first major offensive ordered by the administration of Abelardo de la Espriella.
