Chile launches rental subsidy as Colombia unveils Casa Milagro housing plan

The Chilean Ministry of Housing and Urban Development opened applications on 7 July for a new rental subsidy (Subsídio de Aluguel). The benefit can provide up to 170 UF in total, with monthly payments limited to 4.2 UF, and is aimed at households that meet income, savings and occupancy criteria. Applications remain open until 7 August.

In Colombia, the incoming administration announced the Casa Milagro program to replace the former Mi Casa Ya scheme. The plan will combine state subsidies with low‑interest mortgage loans—targeted around 2 %—and include measures for home improvement, legalisation of informal neighbourhoods and broader coordination with the National Savings Fund, compensation funds and banks.

Separately, the Colombian government allocated 613.471 billion pesos to the department of Nariño to address a 41.8 % housing deficit. The funding will support 19 388 housing solutions, new construction of rural homes, water‑potable and sanitation projects, and the strengthening of community organisations across municipalities such as Tumaco, Barbacoas, Ipiales, Pasto and El Tambo.
