Colombia seeks justice for dog killed after abuse in Antioquia

A community in San Roque, Antioquia, is demanding justice following the death of a Shih Tzu named Luna. The dog disappeared on August 21 and was found five days later abandoned in a sack near a stream.

Luna's family reported that the animal suffered extreme physical and sexual abuse, resulting in a spinal fracture, internal organ damage, and liver failure. The case has drawn significant attention from animal rights organizations and local authorities.

Following the incident, advocates are calling for the prosecution of those responsible under recent Colombian legislation. Recent changes to the Penal Code, initiated by Senator Esmeralda Hernandez, now classify zoophilia as a crime, carrying penalties of between 38 and 55 months.
