Colombia seizes 42 assets linked to ‘Clan Herrera’
The Colombian Attorney General's Office has imposed precautionary measures on 42 assets linked to the ‘Clan Herrera’, an alleged front structure for Hélmer Francisco Herrera Buitrago, a former member of the Cali Cartel. The seized assets have a preliminary valuation exceeding 44.9 billion Colombian pesos.
Investigations into financial movements revealed that these properties were kept hidden for years through various companies and individuals across multiple economic sectors, including real estate, construction, finance, hospitality, aviation, and gambling. These operations were reportedly designed to give the assets an appearance of legality and evade authority control.
The seizure includes properties in Bogotá, Cali, Jamundí, Tuluá, and Sonsón. Notable assets include an 1,083-hectare hacienda named La Porcelana in Sonsón, as well as various apartments, offices, commercial premises, and hotels. The operations were carried out by the Technical Investigation Body (CTI) with support from the National Army.
