Abelardo De La Espriella administration launches economic and regional development plans

The administration of President Abelardo De La Espriella is advancing several key economic and regional development initiatives. Vice President José Manuel Restrepo has been tasked with leading the national economic agenda, focusing on productivity, strategic investment, and state modernization through artificial intelligence. Restrepo has set a growth target of at least 6% for the ‘Economía Milagro’ project, aiming to significantly exceed recent GDP growth rates.

To address regional disparities, the President announced a ‘Plan Marshall’ for the Chocó department. This package includes 14 measures aimed at infrastructure, connectivity, and employment, such as the construction of a gastronomic boardwalk in Quibdó and a 5,000 million peso seed capital fund for entrepreneurs affected by recent earthquakes.

Additionally, the government is drafting the 2026-2030 National Development Plan. This roadmap prioritizes the reconstruction of western Colombia following earthquake damage, national security, and the recovery of private investment. Recent polling by Atlas Intel indicates that President De La Espriella holds a 51.8% approval rating during his first month in office.
