Colombia tourism grows in emerging destinations

International tourism in Colombia is seeing a significant shift toward emerging destinations outside of major urban centers like Bogotá, Medellín, and Cartagena. According to data from the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (ANATO), certain municipalities in the Coffee Axis (Eje Cafetero) have seen a 63% increase in international arrivals. Specifically, Dosquebradas, Santa Rosa de Cabal, and Salento have experienced this growth due to enhanced tourism promotion and a focus on cultural, gastronomic, and nature-based experiences.

In addition to the rise of the Coffee Axis, there is a growing trend toward pedestrian-friendly and nature-oriented travel. Destinations such as Embalse del Neusa in Cundinamarca, the historic streets of Villa de Leyva in Boyacá, and the colorful municipality of Jardín in Antioquia are being highlighted as ideal locations for travelers looking to connect with the environment through walking and outdoor activities.
