Colombia wins historic men's volleyball gold and 100th medal at 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games

Colombia topped the medal table in several sports at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The men’s volleyball team captured the nation’s first ever gold in the event, defeating Puerto Rico 3‑2 in the final. Speed‑skater Juan Jacobo Mantilla added a second gold for Colombia in the 5,000‑metre points race, while Gabriela Rueda won the women’s title.

Cycling delivered the opening gold of the day when Elizabeth Castaño and Lina Hernández won the Madison on the track. In BMX, Colombia achieved a 1‑2 finish twice, first with Valentina Muñoz and Sharid Fayad and later with Diego Arboleda and Carlos Ramírez. The combined successes pushed Colombia past the 100‑medal milestone, bringing its total to 118 medals (42 gold, 48 silver, 28 bronze) and securing second place overall behind Mexico.
