Colombian Army Destroys Cocaine Lab and Neutralizes Clan del Golfo Members in Separate Operations
Soldiers of the Colombian Army’s 23rd Brigade located and destroyed a cocaine‑processing laboratory in the rural area of El Rosario, Nariño. The raid seized 423 kg of cocaine, 764 gal of base solution, 3,265 gal of liquid supplies and equipment used for production, an operation linked to the residual armed group Estructura Franco Benavides and estimated to cut criminal revenues by more than 5 billion pesos.
In a separate operation in the municipality of Jericó, Antioquia, troops from the 4th Brigade’s Light Infantry Battalion 11 engaged armed members of the Clan del Golfo. Two suspected militants were killed and authorities recovered rifles, over 400 cartridges, explosives and other war material. The actions are part of an ongoing offensive against illegal armed groups in southwestern Colombia aimed at improving security for local communities.
