Colombian Army destroys explosives in Puerto Rondón

The Colombian Army destroyed four improvised explosive devices found near a rural path in Puerto Rondón, Arauca. The explosives were located in the La Esmeralda district following alerts from local residents.

Military officials from the Rapid Deployment Force No. 8 and the Rapid Deployment Battalion No. 22 conducted the operation to protect civilians, including farmers and children, who use the path daily. Intelligence reports suggest the devices were placed by members of the ELN, specifically linked to the Domingo Laín Sáenz Front.

This incident follows a pattern of explosive discoveries in the region. In December 2024, the Army reported finding approximately 400 explosive items, including 270 anti-personnel mines, in the same general area, which was attributed to the Estructura 10 group.
