Colombian authorities bolster security in Cereté and El Espinal

Security forces in Colombia are implementing various measures to address local crime and improve public safety. In Cereté, the National Police Special Operations Group has deployed differential security plans involving surveillance, control, and background checks on individuals and vehicles to enhance community coexistence.

In El Espinal, Mayor Wilson Gutiérrez Montaña has formally requested urgent intervention from the national government following a triple homicide in the Balkans neighborhood. The mayor is calling on President Abelardo de la Espriella and the Ministry of Defense to increase the number of police officers and military patrols, strengthen intelligence and criminal investigation capabilities, and establish a high-level security committee to address insufficient personnel levels in the municipality.
