Colombian authorities detain alleged drug‑network leader linked to Panama port

Colombian police, acting on an Interpol red notice, captured a Panamanian citizen who worked at the Panama City port and was identified as the presumed leader of a transnational drug‑trafficking organization. The suspect is accused of coordinating the contamination of shipping containers to move narcotics from the port to illicit markets in Europe and Oceania, as part of the joint Operation Alianza. Colombian officials seek his extradition to face charges of conspiracy to commit drug‑related offenses, international drug trafficking, money laundering and crimes against collective security. The arrest was made possible through cooperation between Interpol Panama, Panama’s National Police and Colombian authorities.
